Regeneration is the process of reconditioning ion exchange resin. In the process of making high purity water using deionization, the resin is spent or exhausted. By using specific chemicals, acid and base, the resin will be regenerated back to cation and anion form. In regenerating resins, there much concern about resin fouling with calcium sulfate, organic fouling, and osmotic shock. In the hobbyist-grade deionizing unit, the resin is mixed (anion and cation). It is very difficult to regenerate this resin without first separating. The professional ion exchange unit can be quickly regenerated a low cost.
At JENCHEM, we have developed a technology that allow us to regenerate a dual column for $39. That price includes testing resin capacity, replacing any crack or damaged housing or tubing and regenerating both the cation and anion column.
Your cost for a gallon DI water drops to less than $0.16 per gallon
Bottled water can cost anywhere from $0.25 to $0.35/ gal and you still are not sure of what you're getting!!!
